Saw this today on FB and found it motivating. I promise. How about y’all?

There is no research showing that eating smaller meals more frequently affects your metabolism in any way. It does not speed it up. Eating less frequently does not slow it down. Fat loss is not affected. There are studies showing that there is NO metabolic change within 72 hours of fasting and also showing positive benefits associated with fasting, though. So why are you spending your days preoccupied with food, trying to plan 4-6 small “meals”, eating every 2-3 hours while never feeling completely full or satisfied? You can eat 2 or 3 larger meals each day and your metabolism will not be affected. It will not slow down. Myth: Busted

I have a friend in town from TX.

Tomorrow we are going to North Carolina for a mutual friend’s wedding. Exciting stuff! I am going to have to eat breakfast on Sunday, so I need to figure out my fasting windows accordingly. I’ve gotten super used to not eating my first meal until 1 or so, so it will be weird to throw my schedule off, but it’s rare that I see all of my college buddies, so I am not going to sit at breakfast and refuse to eat. :)

This is what I think about when I am doing squats. You have to squat LOW if you want to engage your hamstrings and glutes and get that nice, sexy butt!

Wanting to change is all well and good.

Planning to change is all well and good. Talking about how you are going to change, blogging about how you are going to change…all well and good.

But none of those things actually change you.

Changing for 2 days, going back to your old ways, then blogging about changing again…doesn’t change you.

At some point, you have to actually change. And you have to stick with it. It’s not super fun (though at times, it can be) and it’s not super easy (though at times, it can be), but it is worth it. So stop TALKING about it, and JUST DO IT.

Decided to start doing pull-ups on Mondays and Fridays after I finish my lifts…

…and WOW my arms are sore today. Really glad I decided to add these in my brother decided I should add these in to my workout. Different muscles are sore than normal, so they must be working my arms in different ways from the lifts I do. I can’t do them on my own yet, and need a LOT of assistance, but I have a plan to work my way steadily toward no assistance, so I have another concrete fitness goal, and that makes me really excited! When I make it to my UGW, will you guys please remind me to do something REALLY nice for Zach? :)

Weigh-In

‎163.8 so I gained 2 lbs. Seems physically impossible. I went over my calories for the week by about 2000 total (maybe, that’s a conservative estimate, and it was probably lower), but I burned at least 6000 calories this week and was at 161.0 on Thursday. Zach (my brother) says I’m not eating enough given how much and how hard I am working out. I am having a really hard time, I feel like I am just not sure what to do. I keep my calories in my range almost every day. I had one bad day this week because James wanted to go to the Vortex before he went back to England and since I’d worked out for two hours every single day up to Friday, I figured it would be okay to indulge. Other than that, I kept my calories in range. Seriously, do you guys think I should have gained wei

ght? It really seems physically impossible. I know that 1 lb of fat = 3500 calories. I supposedly burn about 1600 calories every day just by living. So I eat around 1200-1500 calories a day to create about a 400 calorie deficit so that if I don’t work out AT ALL, I’ll lose almost 1 pound. But then I lift weights 3x a week and never count the calories burned doing that. Then I do at least 1 hour of cardio, usually more like 2 and burn 900-1500 calories EVERY SINGLE DAY. I don’t eat those calories back. That means I should be losing 2 lbs a week at least! What is going on here? I’m sorry for writing a book but clearly what I am doing isn’t working for me and I feel stuck.

I also am concerned because I have no middle ground sometimes. I either workout like crazy and track every calorie or I don’t work out at all and don’t track. Zach thinks I am working out too much. But I feel like right now I have so much time to work out that I should do it. You guys all have real jobs and responsibilities that limit the amount of time you can focus on getting in shape. I am home all day long right across the street from my gym. I don’t have a car, so I am pretty well confined to my neighborhood. I think I should be working out 3-4 hours a day because I can right now.

So now, in the face of a 2 lb gain, I am trying to figure out what my plan of attack is. How much do you guys think I should be working out. I mean, the people on biggest loser work out 8 hours a day, and quite frankly, I do have enough time that I *could* do that. But then how much do I eat?! ughhhhhhhhhh lol On a positive note, I didn’t cry over my weigh-in this morning, which is kind of amazing given the result.

Then go get it.

Lost 1.6 lbs this week :)

Weighed in at 161.8! Goodness gracious I cannot wait to get out of the 160s! I feel like I have been stuck here forever!

I’m going to change all of my goal rewards.

Instead of shoes and things of that nature, I am going to reward myself with nice kitchen gadgets I want. Food processor, Kitchen-aid Stand Mixer, toaster, and waffle maker are all going on the list. The more I cook, the healthier I eat, so I figure that this way when I reach a goal, I’ll get super excited about my new kitchen gadget and that will reinvigorate my cooking drive! x
